Daniel Pailes-Friedman is a New York-based artist whose paintings explore the tension between emptiness and fullness, positive and negative space, and the dynamic conversations that emerge between colors. He wanted to modernize his website in a way that would allow the shape, scale, and mood of his paintings to take center stage. We selected an off-the-shelf theme with a distinctive left-hand navigation and customized it with new fonts, a minimal color palette, and structural modifications that allow each piece to display at a unique size — conveying the variation in scale across his work despite the similar aspect ratios.
