I am extremely excited to relaunch both my websites: the one you are on now, and my studio practice website. As my two practices have started to overlap in the last five years, I have wanted to find a way to unify them. I still wanted to keep them as separate sites because they do serve very different purposes, this one is focused on showcasing client work, where the other if focused on showcasing my own work.
I started with my studio practice site because I knew I wanted to use my Ambitopia color pallet and design system for that site. I had already started to lean into that dark color pallet with my recent album cover for Continuity, so it felt like a natural fit. I kept the sitemap pretty much the same, but updated the design, the menus, and added a ‘links’ section to the Collateral page because I really want to start thinking beyond viewer acquisition only coming from closed platforms or search. Reviving the ‘links’ page felt like the best way to do that, it will not lead to more viewer acquisitions for me, but maybe it will for those i am linking too and what better way to promote an idea than to use it to promote the people you admire!

Even though I started with the other site, I was most excited about redoing this site because I have been wanting to add this journal/blog for at least 2 years, but I could not get a post like this one to look right in the old design. This is also my first experiment with making a light theme from Ambitopia. This is basically an inversion of the grays used on the other site, but most of those grays are on the cool side, so they inverted to warm. I am not a fan of warm grays so I cheated them all to be neutral. I also had to step out of the inversion for the accent color, a true inversion would have been baby blue and not at all accessible, so I opted for the secondary purple from Ambitopia.

Another fun aspect of the redesign was I got to revisit and revamp these Linktree-esque pages I made at the start of 2025 when I hit my absolute limit with giving my data to big tech. If Instagram was going to continue to be hostile to external links, forcing us to direct users to our bio link, the least I could do was cut out the parasitic middle man and make my own. It is very satisfying to see them side by side here, I just wish I had another link for the 3n Design card, if you have a recommendation on a place to host my resume hit me up!

I also completely recoded both themes, my studio practice site had become an abomination because I love to make little tweaks to my sites and I had been tweaking the same custom WordPress theme for over 5 years. This site was newer, but I had gotten tired of the semi-aggressive load-in animation, I love doing that stuff for my clients, but I use this site for pitches a lot and it slowed me down when I was looking for specific things.
I also decided to have both sites collect emailed for my newsletter and will be transitioning it to include more design/development content, so if you are interested please sign up.
